Claimed to be the single most nutritious food in the world, spirulina presents itself with a characteristic taste. Spirulina, an algae, grows in freshwater and is most commonly found as a powder. This superfood has endless nutritious properties, and while we list here a few, we can only but recommend you to look further. This small alga is protein-rich, possessing various Vitamin B and possibly all amino acids you may which to incorporate in your balanced diet. Some studies also indicate that spirulina can lower the so-called "bad" cholesterol while raising the "good" one on the other hand. Some even claim it reduces curbs cravings and helps with weight loss while keeping you energized.

While it has endless nutritious properties (above we only listed a few really), its taste may not appeal to everyone. As such we recommend you to add to your smoothies, juices and bowls with other strong flavoured ingredients such as lemon and almond milk, for example.
Try banana smoothie with spirulina which will surprise you not only with its taste, but also with its benefits.
_ banana - 1 pc.;
_ spirulina powder - 1_ tsp;
_ Almond milk - 1_ cups
_ honey - 1 tsp;
_ cinnamon to taste.
Freeze the banana beforehand to get a thicker drink while keeping it cold.
Place all ingredients in a blender bowl and whisk until smooth. Garnish with chia seeds .
