Pecan is native to America and from the Hickory family. This nut is similar to the walnut, which is closely related to it, but has an oblong shape and a smooth, thin shell. On the other hand, there are no partitions. The kernels taste like walnuts, but are softer and sweeter.
Pecan kernel is buttery-rich as have a fat content of over 70%, which is more than any other nut.
They have the highest concentration of antioxidants than any other nut. In fact they are in the top 15 foods with the highest levels of antioxidants. Pecans are also packed with a range of minerals, such as manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. They help to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, promote a healthy heart and weight loss.

HOW TO ENJOY

In the United States, this is one of the favorite nuts. It is an ingredient in biscuits, bread, pies, hot dishes and salads are made with it.
The product can be eaten raw or toasted - cooking will enhance the vanilla flavor. It can be added to meat, fish dishes, and coffee. The nut goes well with cheese, rolled oats, vegetables, mushrooms, rice, fruits.
Pecans also match well with flavours such as: brown sugar, butterscotch, bourbon, caramel, chocolate, molasses, oranges and rum. They are most famous for pecan pies, which we highly recommend.
