Turmeric is also known as Indian saffron and has a gingery-mustard flavour. This spice is loved for its rich, bitter taste, the color it gives to dishes, and its healing properties. The active compounds curcuminoids are responsible for the latter - their volume is 3% of the total weight of the root or stems.
Turmeric is used to relieve pain and inflammation such as osteoarthritis. It is also known to fight depression, help reduce risk of heart diseases, improve brain function.

HOW TO ENJOY
Our turmeric has many uses from making sauces such as mustard paste, curry, soups and simply as a colouring agent. The seasoning sets off the taste of meat (especially chicken), omelets and mashed soups, combined with rice, lentils and other cereals . Confectioners add it to baked goods instead of artificial colors for a beautiful yellow-orange color.
Alternatively scramble our tofu with a bit of turmeric and cumin for a delicious vegan breakfast.
The spice is used in drinks: a teaspoon of turmeric can be added to milk with honey, fruit smoothies, tea or coffee. Turmeric is mixed with other spices, put in dressings, pickles and vegetable salads.
